We are so sorry to hear that Susan. We also suggest looking to our larger blog, PainDoctor.com, for more specific advice about managing fibromyalgia: https://paindoctor.com/tag/fibromyalgia/

Hi Thelma — Thanks for stopping by the blog and sharing your story here. We’re glad to hear that heat therapy sometimes helps with your pain and encourage you to give one of our doctors a call to discuss some non-medication type therapies that might work for you: https://arizonapain.com/contact/request-a-call-back/.

I find too, that the heated bag, relieves some of the pressure on my shoulders that the pain causes. The pressure is like a ton weight on my shoulders, the heat bag does help. I find by using the heat bag on my neck before I go to bed I am sleeping better and not waking and getting out of bed and walking around to have (a change of pain) every hour or so.
I take one Mobic every morning and no other medication——-I cry sometimes because on the bad days (which are getting less now) I find I cannot cope with this no energy and loss of confidence, that is when I get the wheat bags out and heat them in the microwave, sometimes for only one minute if I am putting the bag on my bare neck, but about two minutes if placing the bag on my clothed back or arms. I am highly intolerant to most medications.

We’re glad to hear that you’re finding some sleep relief Kirsten! We can’t give direct advice, unfortunately. Do ensure that you’re drinking plenty (plenty) of water to compensate for what you’re losing in the sauna and also talk to your pain doctor for more specific guidance. Thanks for stopping by!

I’ve been trying sauna’s lately as treatment for fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I’ve been doing around 30 mins in the sauna. I have noticed a significant change in my sleep as a result of this, (about an hour extra sleep per night – same sleep times, but less waking, I usually wake around 30x per night) which is great. but i’ve also found my pain levels are much higher than normal too. Can you offer any advice or insight into this?
